Considering buying a used police car, Crown Vic, any suggestions?

Our county is doing an auction and sellign a bunch of Crown Victoria's. So, I was wondering if it is good or bad to own an ex-police car?

Like, do they stay in good shape due to constant maintenance, or are they in bad shape from being driven hard?

I've always heard that police cars are "supercharged" and have the best parts inside of them, is that true?

How much would you be willing to pay for a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria with 97k miles on it?Considering buying a used police car, Crown Vic, any suggestions?
well the crown vic is a very popular car with the Taxi guys in particular because the brakes , front end, and suspension are all heavy duty , which is perfect for todaysd roads. Many people buy them for a grand to 1800 or so depending on mileage and drive them for awhile or resell them or both.

The engine and tranny are good and strong its not a supercharged engine, but it is a solid v8 with good power and with the heavy duty suspension and some good eagle gt plus 4 tires they handle great in the highway.

It all depends on what you want, there are hundreds of thousands of them out there so they are time tested and police approved for durability and long service life.Considering buying a used police car, Crown Vic, any suggestions?
Good solid car - Lottsa trunk room, decent mileage, more then enough power to get you into big trouble, easy to work on %26amp; spare parts under every tree. BUT !! No supercharger. California tried that years ago, but they put them on well used cars...Still didn't turn-out bad, just not great. A fairly current Crown Vic will have around 240 or a bit better hp, plus a bit more rear gear then the civilian version, %26amp; a bit more stall in the torque converted. All that equals quite nice acceleration.Considering buying a used police car, Crown Vic, any suggestions?
Well A they are a tank if you get in a accident you are golden. I would pay any where from 1000 to 1400 or so not that new if it has 97k it is used
